Abstract
A report on the use of air photos to monitor rangeland conditions in mountainous areas of Azerbaijan demonstrates the variety of their applications in the inventory and classification of mountain pastures, evaluation of their condition, and the assessment of prospects for expanding the livestock industry. Specific procedures are outlined for ascertaining the carrying capacity of alpine and subalpine pastures, as well as for monitoring changes in their conditions.
