Abstract

The composer Earle Brown contributed to many aspects of musical innovation in the second half of the twentieth century. These included his activities as a conductor, teacher, visual artist, and recording productions of the music of other contemporary composers. As a composer, he was an innovator in ‘mobile forms’ for both small and large ensembles. His original work had notable influence and set new standards for other composers.
