Purpose of this special issue
The contributions to this special issue were peer-reviewed presentations to the International “Conference on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in Drylands,” held in Rabat, Morocco (the seat of the OCP Policy Center) 11 – 13 June 2014. Thanks to the generous funding of the OCP Policy Center, 30 researchers from across the Arab world, Europe and Africa discussed the nexus in a highly engaging format.
On p. 302 the sentences ‘At the millennium, global oil prices tightened and spiked in 2008 and 2011. But these spikes did not reach the levels of 1945 prices in constant terms.’ should read as:
At the millennium, global oil prices tightened and spiked in 2008 and 2011. It remains to be seen whether this will be a sustained reversal of the trend of declining prices in real terms that prevailed over much of the 20th century.
On p. 305 the sentence ‘Of the 92% of the water used in food supply chains, about 70% is green water.’ should read as:
