Abstract
Bion's letters to Rickman open a very interesting new perspective on the “early Bion”. Of particular note is Bion's changing attitude toward Rickman, his first analyst, ending up in a very good friendship. The multidimensional view on Bion and the origin of his ideas, which we are put in touch with through these letters, is very much in line with the multiplicity of levels present in his subsequent work as a psychoanalyst.
