No big deal ‐feminism and genetics in Sweden

Pages 14-22 | Published online: 23 Apr 2010

Abstract

With the feminist critique of science as the point of departure, the Swedish criticism of the development in genetic science and technology is discussed. In a comparison with the corresponding debate in Germany, the Swedish discussion is categorized as issue‐oriented rather than ideology‐driven. In the concluding discussion some suggestions are put forward regarding which factors in the cultural context could be viewed as important for the kind of shape a debate takes.
