Juhani Koponen is Professor Emeritus in Development Studies at the University of Helsinki. He continues doing research and some teaching. His main research interest is in history of development, which he looks at from both global and peripheral viewpoints. The formation of Finnish development policies and the long-term development history of Tanzania are his main empirical cases for the present.
