A Music Therapist's Experience with and Reflections on Musical Meetings

Abstract

The role of the client-therapist relationship in music therapy has been a topic of recent interest. Several clinicians and researchers have posed models of relationship development in the music therapy process. The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of "Musical Meeting " as it relates to client–therapist relationships. Examination of musical meeting along with two music therapy case examples are provided, and implications for the application of musical meeting as a therapeutic outcome are presented.
