Abstract

Since the 1990s, popular cooperatives in Brazil have been gaining strength and growing. Part of this process is due to the support of the Technology Incubators of Popular Cooperatives (ITCPs), groups that form the ITCP Network. These groups' actions are guided by the principles of the social economy. This article studies the social ties that constitute and maintain the ITCP Network, which in 2010 had 42 affiliates, with representatives in the five largest metropolitan regions of the country. The study of social bonds in the structure of the social network, based on a psychosocial perspective, can indicate aspects of the formation and maintenance of this network. This study employs semi- structured interviews with representatives of the Network ITCP's participants, who were selected through a sociogram and through the stratification of affiliated entities in the network. The results indicate bonding aspects of political representation and exchanges of information and experience.
