Maurine H. Beasley

Maurine H. Beasley is an associate professor of journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds baccalaureate degrees in history and journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in American civilization from George Washington University. A former education editor for the Kansas City Star, she is also a former staff writer for the Washington Post and the coauthor of Women in Media: A Documentary Source Book. In addition, she is the coeditor of One Third of a Nation: Lorena Hickok Reports on the Great Depression. Her most recent project is editing The White House Press Conference of Eleanor Roosevelt, to be published this fall by Garland Publishing Co.
