Anne Messerly Cooper
Anne M. Cooper, assistant professor of journalism at Southern Methodist University, is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She received her A.B. from Vassar College, M.A. from the University of Michigan, and M.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University. During more than 10 years of professional experience in newspapers, magazines, book publishing, and public relations, she has worked for the Asahi Evening News, an English-language daily in Tokyo, Japan; Commonwealth, a magazine published by tqe Virginia State Chamber of Commerce; and the book review section of Journalism Quarterly. Cooper, coauthor of the book Idols, Victims, Pioneers: Virginia’s Women from 1607, is listed in Who’s Who of American Women.
