Steve M. Barkin

Steve M. Barkin is an assistant professor of journalism at the University of Maryland. He received a Ph.D. in communication from Ohio State University, an M.S. in journalism from Columbia University, and an A.B. from Washington University. He has worked as a reporter, newscaster, and news editor for WSB Radio in Atlanta, as host-producer for National Public Radio in Ohio, and as assistant editor of a national magazine, Highlights for Children. His teaching and research interests include broadcast news, the sociology of media institutions, media and politics, and popular culture.
