Donald R. Avery

Donald R. Avery is currently an assistant professor in the School of Communication at the University of Alabama. He holds a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Most recently, he has presented papers at the national conventions of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the American Journalism Historians Association, in 1983. He has recently published in Newspaper Research Journal and in Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication. His research interests include the Party Press, the Jeffersonian-Jacksonian era, the Colonial period, and women in journalism history.
