Sam G. Riley
Sam G. Riley is professor and department head in communication studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is a past editor of the International Communications Bulletin and has served on the editorial boards of Journalism Monographs, the Journal of Popular Culture, and American Journalism. Professor Riley’s articles have appeared in Journalism Quarterly, Journalism History, the Journal of Popular Culture, and the Journal of Regional Cultures. He has also published entries in the Dictionary of Literary Biography and in the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Southern Culture. His current research interest is the history of magazines published in the American South; he has two books on this topic under contract with the Greenwood Press.
