Decision rule orientation and risk taking

Abstract

Previous research indicates that persons involved in decision making tasks exhibit different predispositions toward particular decision rules as well as varying degrees of consistency in rule application. Each decision rule orientation implies different levels of risk. One question that emerges from the decision rule orientation literature concerns whether the construct can be differentiated from risk taking in general Results of the present study indicate that decision rule orientation and risk taking are sufficiently different to ensure the integrity of the decision rule orientation construct.
