Abstract
After reviewing the major pressures which are reshaping the world steel industry, attention is focused on such broad responsive strategies as restructuring steel operations among producing countries as well as within them, including readjustment possibilities in the American industry. Within this framework, the analysis then concentrates in the prospective contributions and associated requirements of technology transfers and of intensified research and development programs.
