The Production of Elemental Boron by Fused Salt Electrolysis

Abstract

The preparation of elemental boron by fused salt electrowinning from KCI-KF-KBF4 electrolyte and electro extraction from soluble B4C anodes in NaCI-KF-KBF4 melt have been investigated. The influence of process parameters such as bath composition, temperature and current density on the quality and yield of the electrodeposited born have been studied.
