Current Technology Use in Indiana Business Schools

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide information about the use of technology in Indiana business education classrooms. This information will enable business teacher educators, administrators, state board personnel, and business education professional organizations to evaluate current programs and to encourage and/or implement any necessary changes in preservice and inservice training opportunities. The findings indicate that approximately 25% of the teachers are not using technology at all and about 37% are integrating software programs into existing courses. Computers are not used extensively to teach business content, nor are they used to manage instruction. There was not a strong desire for additional computer-related training of any kind. The emphasis on computer applications rather than on using the computer to teach business content continues a trend identified earlier by other studies in other regions and states.
