Abstract
Global corporate activity is expanding faster than the publication of academic international articles. In this study, the publication of Japan-focused management research appearing in 21 academic journals between 1981 and 1990 was examined. No annual increase occurred in the proportion of Japan-focused organizational behavior articles published between 1981 and 1990. The body of Japan-focused management articles was a small portion of the total published. Gaps in coverage of personality; motivation; satisfaction, absences, and turnover; group decisionmaking; and organizational culture were conspicuous.
