Effects of College Major on Ecological Worldviews: A Comparison of Business, Science, and Other Students

Abstract

A pretest-posttest experimental design was used to compare the ecological worldviews of college students among different academic majors. The findings, taken from an environmental education program emphasizing critical analysis and a constructivist orientation pointed to significant differences between science and business majors. Science majors had higher scores on the Ecological World-view Scale, indicating a more pro-environmental attitude, than did business
