Attention factors in televised messages: Effects on looking behavior and recall

The following paper won first prize in the Student Award Competition of the Division of Advertising of the Association for Education in Journalism in 1969. Since then Miss Zeigler has earned her doctorate (in communication) and now is assistant professor in the Department of Advertising at Michigan State University. A winner of the Harold E. Fellows Memorial Scholarship in 1965, and co‐winner of an NAB Research Grant in 1969, Dr. Zeigler has worked for Foote, Cone & Belding and WMAQ‐TV, among others, while continuing her strong interest in broadcasting.
