The content of network television prime‐time special programming: 1948–1968

Pages 325-336 | Published online: 18 May 2009

One of the most neglected areas of broadcasting research is that of programming history and strategy. Fortunately, a number of researchers, following the example of Harrison B. Summers and his students, now are exploring this topic. Robert L. Bailey originally gathered most of these data from his Ph.D. dissertation, “An Examination of Network Television Prime Time Special Programming, 1948–1967,” University of Wisconsin, 1967. Dr. Bailey is chairman of the radio‐TV‐film area of the Department of Speech at Wisconsin State University—Eau Claire.
