Abstract

Media‐stimulated call‐in polls have been criticized for exploiting the credibility of scientific polling. In this empirical study, demographic and lifestyle biases from diffusion theory are examined in conjunction with call‐in polling, along with the potential for rigging by organized blocks of “voters.”
