Abstract
A survey of information systems (IS) programmer/analysts in seven firms located in the Southwest reveals that CASE tools are still used, and that the majority of users would rather invest what is often a substantial amount of time learning CASE than to work without it. CASE user perceptions of the effect of CASE tools on a variety of systems development and personal productivity issues are presented. Insights into various aspects of satisfaction with CASE tool outcomes, training time, and the learning curve are also presented. In addition, CASE user and non-user perspectives are compared, revealing that the two views are surprisingly similar. Finally, implications for future research and for upper level management are presented.
