Abstract
Much of the research on system success focuses on a narrow domain of difficulties encountered in system development and recommends narrow solutions. Research in system failure, however, is much broader and considers the difficulties collectively. The study in this report involves a survey of 239 information professionals on system failure and skill perceptions. The data indicate that information professionals perceive a link between failures and skill importance. The link means that project teams can be composed of a variety of skills to insure addressing a number of potential system failures.
