Abstract

Changes in the United States work force and globalization have resulted in an increase in diversity of information systems development (ISD) team members. Team diversity has been shown to impact perceptions concerning team conflict. This paper examines the impact of personality diversity in ISD teams on different forms of conflict in the ISD team process. Data was collected from 88 student ISD teams and analyzed using multiple regressions. The results suggest that personality diversity in ISD teams can impact the perceptions of team conflict and thus be utilized in the selection of team members to produce a more effective and efficient work product, as well as possible reduce turnover.
