Abstract

Many questions have been raised concerning the introductory business computer information systems course. These questions have stemmed from the increased importance of computers in business with particular emphasis toward applications, end users, and small computer systems. This paper presents a set of variables that can effectively be used to explain performance of non-computing majors in the introductory business computer information systems course. Results using logit and discriminant analysis for three semesters indicate that GPA, gender, and other variables do influence performance; however, prior exposure to computers in high school does not.
