Translational Joints in Flexible Multi body Dynamics

Pages 543-564 | Received 01 Feb 1988, Published online: 23 Apr 2007

ABSTRACT

Formulations of translational kinematic constraints between flexible bodies are developed to model deformation of flexible surfaces that move relative to one another. Three types of flexible translational articulated joints are presented and illustrated in analysis of prototype systems. Global deformation modes and substructure local deformation modes are used in dynamic analysis and compared via numerical examples.
