Janet G. Casey is Professor of English and Director of the First Year Experience at Skidmore College. Her books include A New Heartland: Women, Modernity, and the Agrarian Ideal in America (OUP, 2009) and the edited collection Teaching Tainted Lit: Popular American Fiction in Today's Classroom (Iowa UP, 2015). Her current project explores reader contributions to early twentieth-century American periodicals.
