Anne Leonard is a curator at the Smart Museum of Art and lecturer in Art History at the University of Chicago, specializing in European nineteenth-century art (especially that of France and Belgium). A primary area of scholarly focus is the relations between visual art and music, which are the subject of a book she co-edited with Tim Shephard, The Routledge Companion to Music and Visual Culture (2014), the first comprehensive reference work in this field.
