Sergio Ramírez

Sergio Ramirez (Masatepe, Nicaragua, 1942) is a journalist, writer, professor, and former Vice President (1985-90) of Nicaragua. Among his many books, his novel Margarita, está linda la mar (1998; Margarita, How Beautiful the Sea, 2007) was awarded the Spanish Alfaguara Prize. He later won the José Donoso Iberoamerican Literary Prize (2011), and most recently the Miguel de Cervantes Prize (2017). His latest book is the crime novel Ya nadie llora por mí (2018; No One Cries for Me Anymore).
