Humberto Mata

Humberto Mata (b. Tucupita, Delta del Orinoco, Venezuela, 1949; d. Caracas, 2017) was a fiction writer, art critic, essayist, and professor of Languages and Literatures at the Instituto Armando Reverón. His most recent publications include El perro y la rana (2004; The Dog and the Frog); Boquerón y otros relatos (2002/2005; Anchovy and Other Tales); Revelaciones a una dama que teje (2007; Revelations to a Woman Who Weaves); and La mujer emplumada (2016; The Feathered Woman), from which the following story has been translated.
