Rafael Gumucio
Rafael Gumucio (Chile, 1970) is the author of the novels Memorias prematuras (1999; Premature Memories), Milagro en Haití (Santiago, Chile: Alfaguara, 2015), from which the following excerpt is taken, and, most recently, El galán imperfecto (2017; The Imperfect Ladies’ Man). His nonfiction books include Páginas coloniales (2006; Colonial Pages) and Mi abuela, Marta Rivas González (2013; My Grandmother, Marta Rivas González). He is currently the director of the Institute of Humor Studies at the Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile.
