Guillermo Cabrera Infante

Guillermo Cabrera Infante (1929-2005), the Cuban novelist, film critic, essayist, and screenwriter, went into exile in 1965 and settled in London. His many books included the novels Three Trapped Tigers (1967), a Joycean tour de force, and Infante’s Inferno (1979), as well as Holy Smoke (1985), a rollicking history of cigars written in English. In 1997, he was awarded the Premio Cervantes.
