Sergio Ramírez (Masatepe, Nicaragua, 1942) is a journalist, writer, and former Vice President (1985-90) of Nicaragua. His many books include the novels Castigo divino (1988; Divine Punishment, 2015) and Margarita, está linda la mar (1998; Margarita, How Beautiful the Sea, 2007), and a memoir of the Sandinista Revolution, Adiós Muchachos (1999; Adiós Muchachos, 2011). He was awarded the Cervantes Prize in 2017.
