EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF A VERTICAL BRIDGMAN CONFIGURATION

Abstract

The experimental setup presented in this article is used to study the physical phenomena occurring during the vertical Bridgman configuration solidification process. The objective was to carry out experiments allowing confirmation of algorithms for identification and control of free boundaries. We have therefore characterized the phase-change material as fully as possible. We have taken precise temperature measurements using sensors implanted in the material. We have shown the effect and origin of convection phenomena.
