Abstract

An increased availability and advancement of digital media technology, paired with the technology skills of students in the iGeneration, have given teachers and coaches an opportunity to integrate new and affordable technology into physical education and sport. Application technology, or “apps,” can be used on a smartphone or tablet to enhance teaching and learning, providing a motivating and innovative tool that can aid in the attainment of NASPE Standards in physical education and sport. Educators and coaches can use apps to enhance instruction, manage student behavior, and assess students in all domains, among other uses. Physical education teachers are taking advantage of this cost-effective technology, all while connecting students' interests with NASPE Standards.
