The use of molecular simulation, in its widest sense, continues to grow in China. This special issue of molecular simulation, representing a selection of papers presented at the 2nd Molecular Simulation Conference, Xian Jiaotong University, 15–17 April 2016, reflects the latest advances in the field.
Over 60 people took part in this conference, hosted by the School of Electrical Engineering. I thank Dr Y. Wang, ably assisted by his team of student helpers, for the superb local organisation, and Prof. K. Wu and the School of Electrical Engineering for core funding.
