Values and kelly's theory: Becoming a good scientist

Pages 259-269 | Published online: 24 Dec 2007

Abstract

This paper examines the way in which George Kelly viewed values in his writings. His acknowledgement of the integral relationship of values and psychological theory and research is considered. The ways in which Kelly viewed adjustment and psychological well-being are discussed in terms of an analysis of the meaning of Kelly's central metaphor of the scientist. I suggest that this metaphor may more profitably be considered a proscription, rather than a description, of human nature.
