Abstract
The advent of FEL sources delivering two synchronized pulses of different wavelengths has made available a whole range of novel pump-probe experiments [Citation1], allowing the exploration of the dynamics of matter driven to extreme non-equilibrium states by an intense ultrashort X-ray pulse and then probing the sample response at variable time delay with a second pulse [Citation2].
