Notes

A Natural Resources Research Group was organized within the Rural Sociological Society in August 1963 at a conference in St. Anne, Quebec. An Environmental Sociology section of the American Sociological Association was first organized in August 1977 in New York.

Leisure Sciences was first published by Crane-Russak of New York and was later purchased by Taylor & Francis of London, England.

Impact ranking is a measure of the frequency articles in a journal are cited in other journals in the same scholarly category. For example, Society & Natural Resources received the 39th most citations of its articles of all the 78 scholarly journals in the field of environmental studies.
