Abstract
Water-soluble metal complexes, Pd/TpPTS (TPPTS = triphenylphosphine trisuWonate sodium salt), in supercritical carbon dioxide with such co-solvents as water and ethylene glycol has been shown to be an effective catalytic system for the Heck vinylation reaction of iodobenzene with butyl acrylate and styrene. The effects of operating pressure, co-solvents, substrates, and substrate and catalyst concentrations have been discussed in detail. In this system, the reactants/products can be easily separated from the catalyst by simple phase separation after depressurization and the catalyst can be recycled.
