Abstract
A pressure-induced phase transition was studied within anatase single crystal and powdered samples by Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The anatase single crystal transforms to columbite-type polycrystals in the relatively narrow pressure region of 4.3-4.6 GPa. The phase transition within powders is sluggish. The pressure-dependences of the Raman band frequencies and the lattice constants were investigated. In these properties, there is a slight difference between single crystal and powders.
