In situ studies of high-pressure phase transformations in the B–C–N system

Pages 499-509 | Published online: 26 Jan 2007

Abstract

This article briefly reviews results of our recent in situ studies of high-pressure high-temperature phase transformations of graphite-like BN–C solid solutions and turbostratic CN using powder X-ray diffraction with synchrotron radiation.

Acknowledgements

The author thanks his collaborators D. Andrault, J. Chen, O. O. Kurakevych, M. Mezouar, L. C. Ming, J. B. Parise and E. G. Solozhenko, for their contributions and valuable discussions. Special thanks go to M. Hubaček and C. Popov, for supplying BN–C and C–N–H precursors. DAC experiments were carried out during beamtime allocated to proposals HS-918 and HS-1693 at ID30, ESRF. Experiments at HASYLAB were supported by the GFZ-Potsdam under the MAX80 program. Experiments at the NSLS were carried out under the General User Proposal No. 4621, which is supported by the US Department of Energy. This work was partially supported by the National Science Foundation Grant No. DMR-0102215.
