Abstract
Hydrothermal experiments were carried out in order to evaluate the pressure effect on the solubility limit of α-quartz in different aqueous solutions (NaOH-1M and Na2CO3-1M). The behaviour of such solutions at high pressure is different.
Na2CO3(1M) aqueous solution seems to be appropriate for dissolving highly α-quartz (400°C) in two domains of pressure 100 ≤ P ≤ 190 MPa and 300 ≤ P ≤ 350 MPa. Thus it can be used as solvent, instead of NaOH(1M), for hydrothermal quartz growth applications.
