Abstract
This paper presents a dynamic model to calculate the near electromagnetic fields in open chirostrip structures excited by a short printed dipole. Closed form expressions for the transformed fields are derived in the Fourier domain. As the dipole is printed on the chiralfree space interface, the calculations of near electromagnetic fields involve Sommerfeld type integrals which are analyzed in detail. Effects of chirality on near field distributions are presented and discussed. It has been observed that the chirality causes a rotation in the near- field patterns. This phenomenon has been reported only for the far field region. As expected, our calculation confirms that the behavior of the magnetic field at the chirostrip antenna interfaces is different from that usually observed in microstrip antennas.
