Abstract

A wideband operating antenna for digital television in the 485–895 MHz band is presented. This antenna consists of an irony-mark-shaped monopole antenna fed by a microstrip line and a stepped ground for impedance matching. The monopole includes five parallel strips with 1.5 mm gaps between adjacent strips. The impedance matching and bandwidth of the proposed antenna are significantly affected by the width of the strips and the gaps between them. The stepped ground is used for size reduction and impedance matching. The simulation and measurement results indicate that the proposed antenna is applicable to mobile and indoor terrestrial broadcast TV signal reception.
