Abstract

In this paper, a compact frequency selective surface (FSS) with low-pass and wideband high-stop response is presented. The FSS is composed of hexagon rings and placed in hexagon arrangement. At low frequencies below 2.0 GHz, the insertion loss is less than 0.9 dB. While in the stopband 8.0–18.0 GHz, the transmission is below  dB. Moreover, the FSS has the merits of low profile (0.6 mm) and stable performance for various incident angles within 30 degrees and for different polarizations. Design procedure and measurement results of the FSS are presented and discussed.
