Abstract
This paper presents characterization and performance evaluation of radar-absorbing paint (RAP) consisting of U-type Hexaferrite magnetic material Ba4 (Co1–5xP2x)2Fe36O60 for (x = 0.05) and polyimide solution. In this paper, different methods of RAP characterizations are discussed and with scattering parameter method, permittivity and permeability values are measured using Vector Network Analyser. Reflection loss of the RAP has been computed from the measured complex permittivity and permeability values. RAP has been applied on an artillery shell and its performance evaluation has been carried out using multilevel fast multipole method-based electromagnetic simulation software at various frequencies in X band. Maximum radar cross section reductions of the order of 17 dB have been observed at 10 GHz frequency range.
