Abstract

A sharp-rejection and high-isolation quad-band bandpass filter with ellipse response using hybrid microstrip/slotline quad-mode resonator is proposed in this paper. The presented composite quad-mode resonator consists of a narrow L-shaped slot in the ground plane and a broadside microstrip L-shaped structure loaded by the two orthogonal narrow-stripline stubs. The dual-metal-plane resonator on a single substrate is employed to obtain a quad-frequency response. Based on this quad-mode resonator, a filter with four passbands centering at 3.86, 6.93, 10.13, and 12.58 GHz is designed, fabricated, and measured. Simulated results from the full-wave electromagnetic software and measured results show a good agreement. The measured inter-band isolations among the quad-frequency passbands with multi-transmission zeros are greater than 22 dB.
