Abstract

In this endeavor, a cascade system of an attenuator in series with a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) will be studied. A discussion on past related works followed by a study of different Attenuator-LNA arrangements not analyzed collectively in those previous works will be presented. This is important for addressing the lowering of system noise figure (NF), which is critical for applications such as GPSs and Radars. The effects of the attenuator on the overall NF will be looked at. The attenuator can also act as a protection for the spectrum analyzer from Device Under Test (DUT) which in this case is an LNA.
